I don’t like sports. No, I didn’t like sports. A number of my physical education grades were bad and nightmarish. Indeed, when I was a middle school student, I couldn’t get a single goal in my basketball class. It was terrible. I was really bad at every kind of sport. Also, I didn’t like to watch sports games. I was totally not interested in them. Therefore, I had not thought about Canada and sports, because to me they didn’t seem to have any connection! However, one day in Canada my life changed completely.
It was almost two weeks ago. I tried to join as many activities as I could, and I went to watch the ice hockey game. Ice hockey is not a common sport in Korea. Neither had I seen it nor had I heard about it. For example, I didn’t know the rules of the game or how many players are there are in the game.
The ice hockey rink was very far from downtown. We took a bus, but we were late. When I stepped into the stadium, everybody was screaming and making noise. They looked SO excited. After taking my seat, I couldn’t do anything except yell and scream like the others. It was amazing! Because I didn’t like sports, I had never thought to watch sports games. I thought they were boring and people who watched them were stupid. However, I want to say one more time, it was AMAZING! The ice hockey players were very fast and they knocked into each other and sometimes fought. When a Vancouver team player missed the puck, we encouraged them together. When they scored a goal we yelled and yelled! We were all very excited. It was really great.
I used to dislike sports because I am bad at doing them. I thought that I wouldn’t like watching sport either. It was my big mistake! In almost two hours, I fell in love with ice hockey.
